Winter Tablecloth Completed

I just put up a blog post over on A Home Grown Journal telling about how my husband forcibly locked me in my quilt studio for the whole day yesterday. And how profitable it was. I finished the was-really-a-Christmas-tree-skirt-but-now-is-a-winter-tablecloth-quilt.

Here it is on my design wall. All done. Quilted and bound. I used Thermore for batting which is super-thin and drapes nicely.

I had a big hunk of blue print fabric that I've been wondering if I would ever use that I thought would be a good match for the backing. I still have that big hunk of blue print fabric that I'm wondering if I will ever use . . . because it wasn't a good match at all. I ended up using a nice white on white which is probably more appropriate anyway.

I didn't know exactly how the different shape of the quilt, which I really, really like, would fit on our little kitchen table, but it's just fine.

Now the first guy who knocks over a glass of red wine on it is in BIG trouble!

Your table topper quilt turned out wonderful! What a wonderful husband you have...he must know how happy it makes you to get to play in your sewing room. Sounds like a keeper to me!

Hi, Sharon - Yessir (I mean yes, ma'am!), he is a good guy . . . and then some.

Thanks for the kind words.

That would be me . . . or Tom . . . with that glass of red wine. (Remember Penny's white carpet & couch at my shower?!)

I really love this, tho - this shape! Matter of fact, I think you should try a baby quilt this way! Talk about U-N-I-Q-U-E!

a Beautiful table cloth. I'm so glad you showed it on the table! It's perfect! How did you know it would fit so nicely?...oh yeah! You probably measure! Something I'm not fond of at all!

Chicken Mama - A baby quilt in this shape did cross my mind. But I don't like the way it doesn't "fold up" nicely with the pointy points. Should that matter? Might give it a go anyway because, you're right, it is different.

As far as anything getting spilled on the tablecloth . . . seriously, I have a large supply of stain remover.

And you know how I feel about anybody who has a white carpet and couch!

Beth - That shape was not the easiest to measure to decide if it would fit on our table. But, yes, I did kinda sorta try to figure that out first. :o)

Mama Pea, I finally got the time to come over and check out your creations, this table quilt is gorgeous, it reminds me of a farm breakfast table at my grandma's house when I was little. I can just picture the bowls of butter and smell her homemade rolls and cinnamon raisin toast by looking at it! And I am ogling over your barnyard quilt, beautiful!

Hey, Erin - Welcome to Mama Pea Quilts! So glad you found the time to come take a peek at this part of my life.

I am really happy with the way this tablecloth turned out . . . especially when the pattern was for a tree skirt!

And thanks for the nice words about the barnyard quilt . . . I wasn't sure many people would like that one but have gotten several nice comments on it.
