But, of course, now when I'm so close to finishing my sampler block baby quilt, I can't resist putting in a couple of hours tonight hand sewing on the binding.

Have a particular color or quilting pattern in mind?

Even though I'm a beginning knitter, I can relate to the "favorite part" bit! When I am nearing the end I know that soon I can start something else with my yarn stash in the closet :)
Ooooh, there's nothing like having a bunch of colorful, unused yarn (OR colorful, unused fabric!) to make our fingers itch for the next project! How 'bout some picture of what your knitting, lady??
I enjoy putting on the binding, too. I get to enjoy the fabrics again, up close and personal, and think about the person who will be using it, etc. I put on a DVD, get my rhythm going, and just enjoy the process.
Hi, Joan - So well put! Thinking about and enjoying the fabrics, pattern, time spent, recipient of the quilt all is very satisfying while sewing on the binding. Gone is the concern about colors, positioning, borders, etc. that we all experience while in the process of actually "making" the quilt.
