Pot Holders Ready to be Mailed

I made two pot holders as a small thank you and they are ready to be tucked into an envelope and wing their way southward.

Front and back of the first one.

Front and back of the second one.

If you're anything like me, you can always use a couple of new pot holders. Seems like they're kind of pricey at the store if you can find ones you like, so I get a kick out of making them for myself and others.

It's a quick project and lets me try out different patterns of the old-fashioned blocks on the front of them. Doing seasonal ones are also fun.

How fun! These are so cute and would be a great way for me to try out some quilt blocks and not be overwhelmed LOL!

I have a stack of cuts for potholders - I just need to get off the butt and get sewing. I love yours.

So, being completely ignorant of all things quilted, what do you put in the center (batting) for these? Just the usual, or do you have to use super-heavy-duty-nonburny stuff?

OMG -- so cute! I love the barnyard motif -- go figure, lol! You've got talent, lady :) I see one problem... they're too fun to use (you should see my pot holders -- not pretty!)

Erin - That's exactly why I like doing them. I can find out if a block goes together easily (or not!) and if I'd like to do it in a whole quilt.

Yvette - Do it! Everyone seems to like to get handmade potholders.

Rain - I made these with some special "barnyard" fabric someone gifted me.

Jane2 - Oh, do do some! And post about them with pictures, of course!

Susan - You certainly could insert some reflective non-burny stuff but I've always used two layers of Warm 'N Natural and never had a problem with heat coming through.

Fiona - If they get grungy looking, I can make more! :o)

Lorie - Oh, thank you! I really like making pot holders. Quick and easy and I get to experiment with different block patterns . . . and fabrics!
